A Better Way to Start, Focus, and Finish Anything
DOING THINGS is tailor-made for anyone who’s ever felt like the instruction manual for life was missing a few pages.
DO YOU STRUGGLE WITH GETTING STARTED? DO YOU HAVE A MILLION IDEAS BUT FIND IT DIFFICULT TO FINISH ANY OF THEM? WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE MORE FOCUSED AND LESS ANXIOUS?
Â
If your answer to any one of those is YES—keep reading.
The most common productivity methods don't work for everyone. In fact, for many people, these methods end up causing distress. Meanwhile, many productivity "hacks" do more harm than good.
The great news is: things can be a lot better. The DOING THINGS course will give you a new perspective on overcoming overwhelm and being able to focus on what matters to you.
INTRODUCING
DOING THINGS: A Guide to Neurodivergent Productivityđź’Ą
Â
WHAT YOU'LL LEARNÂ
Â
-
Motivation to start, focus to finish.
Chances are, at least one of those things is a problem for you, right? You either struggle with task initiation, or you start a million things but have a hard time getting them across the finish line.
DOING THINGS will help you get better at both of them.
Â
-
An intentional approach designed for neurodivergent humans.
If you have sensory regulation issues, if you take mild rejection personally, if you identify as having ADHD, ASD, PTSD, or another condition (including non-diagnosed), chances are you don't learn the same way as other people.
As noted, you might even feel discouraged by traditional education on work habits and productivity. It's not your fault! You need to learn differently.
Â
-
Tools to help with BOTH work and home life.
-
DOING THINGS is designed to help with all the things you need to do, not just for your job. Often, people are satisfied with either their home life or their career, but have difficulty feeling as fulfilled in the other.
-
If you learn to plan and complete tasks differently, however, you can apply this knowledge to anything you need to do.
WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
Â
DOING THINGS is for anyone who wants to do more of what matters to them. It's hard to do things these days! Distractions are everywhere. Focus is elusive. And much of what you've been told simply isn't helpful.
In particular, it's for people who identify as neurodivergent (any condition or subtype), as well as anyone who struggles with one or more of these problems:
-
âś… Task initiation (getting started with something)
-
âś… Focus to finish (going from start to completion)
-
âś… Feeling so overwhelmed that either starting or finishing is difficult
-
âś… The paradox of choice (eliminating options)
In short, if you identify with any of those descriptions, DOING THINGS will help you figure out what you need to do, get underway, and bring it to a satisfactory completion.
Wouldn't that be nice?
Course Modules Â
The course includes 24 lessons, divided across three concepts: organization, focus, and overwhelm. Each lesson is in short video format with accompanying transcript. Also, each lesson has a specific takeaway, something you'll learn that you can apply right away.
Â
Module 1: Developing an Organizational Method
Objective: Develop an organizational system that works for you, allowing you to direct energy to the tasks and projects you choose.
Topics include: Energy balance and allocation, a simple method of organization, visual storage, habit stacking, building supportive workspaces, and overcoming resistance.
Â
Module 2: Finding Focus
Objective: Use your improved organizational ability to work more effectively (by your own definition of success!)
Topics include: Task initiation paralysis, leveraging hyperfocus while reducing burnout, strategies for sustaining focus, day-to-day workflow, dealing with "squirrel syndrome," and more.
Â
Module 3: Overcoming Overwhelm
Objective: Understand that overwhelm is both a feeling and a state of being; develop tools of recovery to get back on track when everything feels impossible.
Topics include: Techniques to mitigate sensory overload, boundary-setting (with others and yourself!), self-care and stress reduction, "I feel so overwhelmed that I can't do anything," and more.

- Â I'm an author, podcaster, entrepreneur, and traveler. You might know my books, including The $100 Startup, Side Hustle, and The Happiness of Pursuit.
- I'm generally good at doing things—but I've also struggled with focus and anxiety. The more I learned about high-achieving ADHD, the more everything made sense. I rewired my working patterns and have been doing much better ever since.
- Read more about my story in the 3x/weekly posts in the series, A Year of Mental Health! I'm building in public and it's all pretty transparent. :)

BONUSES
What would an online course be without bonuses? (Answer: a sad birthday party.)
That said—I tried to focus only on helpful resources instead of overloading you with countless things you'll never use. So in addition to the 24 lessons, I also asked a number of friends for their no-holds-barred secrets to DOING THINGS.
Each of these short interviews is included in the course:
These people are all pretty successful, and they all have perspectives that are fairly different from what you hear everywhere else. You'll get access to this content at the same time as everything else in the course.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
-
Do I have to be neurodivergent to learn something?
-
No. DOING THINGS is really for anyone who struggles with ... doing things. I use language and terms that are more familiar to neurodivergent folks, since they're used to being in a world that doesn't really cater to them. But if you don't think you have ADHD or another formal condition, you can still benefit. :)

-
What's this about productivity? Sounds suspicious.
-
I get it—you're right to be wary. There's a well-deserved backlash against some parts of productivity culture.
-
Ultimately, however, productivity just means working at something with efficiency. The something can be anything you want.
-
That's why I call it DOING THINGS. You can call it whatever you want.
-
-
Does this course include lots of consultation time, private groups, and unlimited Zoom sessions?
-
No. Everything is in the course platform hub, and you go through the materials at your own pace.
-
-
Who created this course and why should I trust them?
-
That would be me, Chris Guillebeau. You can read my story and see if it resonates. Even better, don't take it from me—scroll to the bottom and see what people are saying about the course.
-
-
How is this different from other methods?
-
Good question! It's not really a method. If you have any methods or systems you're currently using, most likely those will be compatible with everything you learn in DOING THINGS.
-
Instead, this will teach you a different way of working—and also, a different way of thinking about working.
-
-
What if I buy it and don't use it?
-
I understand—this is a real concern with online courses! I've purchased many of them that are sitting in a folder on my computer from years ago. One day I should probably open them up and learn something.
-
First, I've designed it to be easy to jump into. Just go through it a bit at a time! Each lesson is actionable and gives you a takeaway you can use right away.
-
Second, you have access forever, so if you forget about it for a year like I tend to do, it will still be there. There are no subscription or renewal fees. (And it will still be relevant. I promise there is nothing in the course about AI, the metaverse, VR headsets, or Bitcoin.)
-
-
If it's really not for me, can I get a refund?
-
No, because I will be living it up in Monaco with your $150!
-
Just kidding. Yes—if you go through the course (i.e. don't just leave it sitting in a folder) and really believe it doesn't provide serious value to you, [^^TK process^^]
